Just...say the word, Lord.

As I was reading this morning the centurion's remark struck a cord within.  I have a dear friend who has one cancer, so as I was reading I pray, Lord, just say the Word and heal her.  My daughter hit a tough spot financially (seems to run in the family) I asked Just say the Word Lord,   As I read about the centurion who apparently loved and valued his slave;, so much so to ask Jesus for his healing.  Jesus marveled at his great faith and the slave was healed.  What kind of faith do you and I have?

Do I believe that the Lord can heal my friend? YES!  Do I believe that the Lord can help my girl out financially?  YES!  Further on in chapter seven of Luke, I read about the widow whose only child died.  Christ had compassion on her, and raised her boy from the dead then it says, "Jesus gave him back to her."  What a personal and awesome Lord we have.  Nothing escapes His notice or His concern for the needs of all.  Do I demonstrate than kind of compassion?  Christ takes the time to meet us where we are at, for He never sleeps or becomes distracted for "He cares for His own."

One of things I love doing my Bible reading is to relive those scriptures that prompt me to think back from whench I came.  The account of Simon the pharisee hosting Jesus a a meal.  And suddenly without a word, a woman (sinner) came with an alabaster vile of perfume. Undoubtedly, her love for Christ caused her to overlook the others reclining around the table.  She poured the oil over Him, and with tears in her eyes and love in her heart, her tears streaming onto His feet so she died them with her hair as no towel was available.  Can you imagine?  Touching soiled, dirty stinky feet?  But not just antibody's feet, but the feet of Christ Jesus!

When I first read this many moons ago, boy could I relate to this woman.  A sinner not worthy of even touching His hem much less His feet.  Like this woman, who Christ healed spiritually, she came to faith in Him and her sins were forgiven.  I believe that both of our sins were too many to count, but as the scriptures say, "those who are forgiven much love much."  Praise our Lord for that truth and comfort. Now we both can rest which Christ declared in Matthew 11;28-30.  Maybe this woman had heard that message and that is why she came to Christ, and she found he rest.  Rest for her soul and a new way of life through the power of her Lord.  She undoubtedly was ashamed of her past, but not ashamed of her tears.  Scripture reading not only gives us insight and direction for today, but helps me remember how far He has brought me, but also how far I have yet to go.

Rest in Christ, Love as He does, See other's through His eyes.  Pray for all to be spiritually healed and for those who are ill that He would heal them physically as well.  "Just say the Word Lord,"   and it will be done!
