Life is hard and it does not appear that this is going to change soon!
John the Baptist was commissioned to "prepare the way" for Jesus Christ's ministry. What drove him to remain faithful and continue to move forward? He knew his purpose and what God gave him life to accomplish. The scriptures foretold about John's coming in the Spirit of Elijah. Prophecy is God's truth being declared to the world. In the days of old prophecy was sent through God's men to warn of their sin, calling them back to God. It also tells of future events. Today, God's men are still calling us to do the repent, turn back to God, and yet it appears that some may still be foretelling future events.
However, there is another type of prophecy. Self-fulfilled prophecy simple put, molds a person to believe that is their lot in life. Unfortunately, this is the mindset of many today. Kids growing up being told they will not amount to a "hill of beans." Then, they live that prophecy out. This negative input into the life of a child sticks like gluing your finger together. Sometimes the glue has to be removes with a razor blade separatinging the two fingers stuck together. This surgery is also necessary in our lives separating truth from lies that are stuck in our mind and soul which we have made true by living it out. I have seen the fruit of this self-fulfilled prophecy.
I know a gal, she is believer, but not strong in the Lord or in His Word. I have never met a gal who has absolutely no confidence that she can do anything right. She had a negative mother who somehow instilled, without knowing the traded of her teaching, that she cold not ever amount to anything. She turned to drugs and alcohol. Why not live out what you have come to believe about yourself? Why, because it is a lie from the pit of hell. While mom declared this negative self-fulfilled the Word of God. God's Word says we must be transformed by the renewing of our mind. (Rom. 12:2)
Now this gal has come to Christ, but still operates on the self-fulfilled prophecy she was feed on earlier in life. She is a new mom, but has no confidence she can do what is needed to be a good mom. She seeks out help from her mom, but because of her lack of confidence she is like a blank page accepting what ever others write on her mind how to care for her child.. Each person gives a little different approach and contradictory advice, which brings and adds to her confusion. She is a concrete thinker and finds it difficult not to expect a certain outcome if she does what she is told. Unfortunately, we know that type of thinking is not reality. How can one help another learn flexibility?
It is hard watching her and my own your child going through tough times. In the old days, I would try to fix the situation, but now I pray and seek wisdom for what the Lord wants me to do.
So, what did I find to be the solution? "Fill me up Lord", Spirit of the Living God I come a beggar seeking your help. For only You can meet the need for confidence and assurance regardless of what is the situation. For one it is being a new mom; another finances; another health issues; another just finding out after 30 years she is married to a pediphile; another pregnant and getting a divorce from an abusive husband; yet another not sure how to practice your presence. Many, many needs, and Christ Jesus is the only answer.
Lord so many needs and yet You are the One who can meet them and heal them, bringing You honor and glory. Fill us up Lord with more of You; from the top of our heads to the tips of our toes. Lord life is hard, it hurts, it is full of pain and I thank you for it drives us to Your Arms for comfort, healing forgiveness, and Your solutions. For nothing is impossible for You; we could really use a Your Hand in these curcumstances.
