Nostalgic Morning

Well here it is Thursday morning and I just wrote a note to my former pastor and wife.  They are in a trail, not the first, but I so admire them how they handle these times.  Oh, for the maturity and grace to handle things so well.  Christ is honored and those of us who have a tendency to complain, like the Israelites must take stock. The Lord has  used this precious couple in my life and in the life of friends that it pulls at my heart strings to see them go through another trial.

Life, I do believe that life was not meant to be a cakewalk. However, it does seem that some face hardships more than others.  So, forgive me Lord for being no different than your children who found themselves in the desert and complained even though you provided ALL their needs.

I  recall serving under their leadership.  What a privilege for God has placed great men and women over me Starting with Bible Study Fellowship where I heard the gospel, where I received salvation, training in the Word of God, and the discipling which eventually lead me step out in faith and enter Western Baptist College; Micheal Boersma, whose ministry ignited a  deep desire to serve the Lord; Lance Sparks who loved me and generously gave me the opportunity to serve God's women; Ron Shafer who nurtured, challenged, confronted and supported me in the ministry the Lord had called me too; Pastor Justin who who helped me during a tough transition period from church ministry to home ministry.   Then, the women who the Lord brought across my path during this journey: Miss Johnson, my apostle Paul, Jane Boyce, Nelly Savicki, Inez Shefner, Elanore Forbes, one of my greatest encouragers and supporters, Chris Hill, Shari Stidd, Mary Ivie and Last but not least Joyce Wilder.  When I look at this list how could I not feel nostalgic?   Remember these are his people loving (me) as He does.  "They (the world) will know you are MIne, by your love."  What a testimony!  A testimony is not what He freed us or saved us out of, but what He has and is doing in us for His glory and honor.

I perferred the term nostalga versus sentimental, for, when we feel sentimental it can be a form of self-indulgence and also can exaggerate ones feelings of sadness as well as tenderness. term means emotional, affectionate, being loving and tender towards a person and a place.  That is why I would love to go to Israel, to walk where my Lord walked and to see what He saw.  This is how I feel towards my Lord? Along with feelings of security, indebtedness, gratitude and hope which are based on His Words
of truths. Our journey regardless of what comes our way, leads to our final destination, Heaven with Christ forever.  That is not a trip I would want anyone to miss.  For no person can escape Christ.  Better to embrace Him now through faith, by accepting His solution to our sin.  Salvation is free, but their is a cost which is dying to self, becoming dependent on Him for ALL things and situations.  Since, Christ gave His life for you and me, then sent back the Holy Spirit to lead us into maturity as we study, apply and share His grace and love.  What an assignment!!

Christ is our example to follow, yet He in His wisdom and plan brought people into our lives who are examples also for us to follow with discernment for we are all human and make mistakes.  One of my favorite saying is:  "Lord guide my steps, chose my joys, protect my name, and bless my work."  The focus and reliance is on Him so I will not bring Him shame or hurt, but glory and honor.  Now, that is our testimony.

Who has the Lord brought into your life?  Have you thanked Him for them?  Have you told them how much they mean to you and what He has done through them to touch you?  Are you nostalgic or sentimental?  Why or why not?

Let us remember that "He who began a good work, will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippian's 1:6b. Trust Him and keep your eyes fixed upon Him, you cannot be derailed, at least not for long

Blessings on your head and any other part of your body you need!  Love you all!
