There is a question that came about a few years ago, "Whose your Daddy?" Daddy pictures someone in control of my being, my protection, my provider, secure in his love for me. Some of us unfortunately did not grow up in this type of environment, but not those in Christ. For those of us who are His, this ought to be a simple question to answer.
Yes, our Master is Jesus, the perfect, loving Master. He does not rule us with an iron fist. He lets us decide: Will we give Him our hearts, our minds, our time, our energies? If we say Yes ... if we truly give Him control of our lives ... we begin an amazing and beautiful journey.
When our Master takes over, we find joy — peace — victory over every "besetting sin"! I Corinthians 6:19
Trust in your God who says your calling is irrevocable and that all things come from Him. Romans 11:29
Trusting our Master and our calling are the cause for our walk. Both are based on Him and His character and gifting. Now our identity in Him not job, kids, home, resources, community service, etc... None of these ought to be up for a my opinion, my vote, or my fleshly will.
One of our tests come from who is in control. Who is really my Master? Our calling suffers when our anything other than Christ defines who we are and where do we find satisfaction. For our person hood, satisfaction or contentment are to be found in the Master of our soul and hopefully our will.
What happens when you lose your job? Do you lose your calling? Do you lose your identity? Do you lose your sense of well-being? All of these issues are not meant for a child of the living God. No. God's calling involves different stages and experiences in life.
When any form of bump in the road big or small transpires it can be disconcerting, devastating, may cause doubt, but we need to remember who is our Daddy. For disruptions in your work and life become an important training ground for God to fulfill all aspects of His calling on your life.
Our questions is what will be our response? Who will we look to for the answers and/or help? Answering these question will tell you "Who is your Master," and how you view "God's calling" on your life.
Joshua 1:9; 24:14-15 comes to mind; "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord."
